My Audience will have the opportunity to engage, learn, discover an innovative technology tool through Quizlet an excellent way to teach ELLs strong vocabulary. One of my favorite aspects of integrating technology into instruction is the availability of resources to support students with different learning needs. This hands-on activity is filled with excitement and can turned around on your campus immediately. Students who are struggling can benefit from the excitement and engagement offered on any Smart Device, they may have available to them. Teacher of English-Language Learners (ELLs) can use technology to promote growth in their students. Developing a strong vocabulary is an important area of focus for ELLs who are building their reading comprehension. Participants will need to bring any Smart Device to install the FREE app.

Abstract: Unlock the power of visuals in your classroom! The right visual can set schema for a unit or topic. The right visual can ignite student curiosity and invite student questions. The right visual can even build language acquisition and encourage better descriptive writing! Join us to experience these powerful and easily implemented strategies! Description: It is our objective to share teaching strategies that educators can implement immediately to engage all learners. The strategies modeled can be implemented without the purchase of additional materials and can be used with any and all curriculum. They are also designed to support the reading, writing, speaking and listening of English Language Learners. Participants will be introduced to multiple ways to use visuals to increase student engagement and interaction with content in the classroom. The easily implemented strategies experienced in this session build interest, comprehension and further language acquisition. This session will be conducted as a highly interactive classroom experience. Participants will be invited to inspire writing with “NAAV” igate an image and “Quick Writes”, encourage questioning with “Picture Words” and teach compare and contrast with “This...or That?”. Attendees will debrief their experiences as both learner and educator. PowerPoint will be used to direct, not to instruct. Participants will be up, moving around, engaged in quality conversation with content just as students should in a classroom. We believe strongly in the premise: “We learn what we do!” and know this applies to a higher-ordered thinking classroom.

This program has proven to be very effective in the education of all students and highly effective in closing the academic achievement gap of English Language Learners.
